About Phillip G. Palmer Jr.
Professional:
Phillip has chosen to devote his time practicing law to help the people of southern Illinois. Throughout his legal career, he has handled all types of legal matters, but has spent the majority of his career working in the areas of personal injury litigation and insurance litigation. Specifically, Phillip has handled cases involving medical malpractice, automobile accidents, premise liability matters, slip-and-falls, dog bites, and many others. A portion of his career was spent working on the defense side of these cases, so Phillip is uniquely qualified to handle matters where insurance coverage or liability may be at issue. He also possesses intimate knowledge of how these companies who have acted wrongfully or negligently resulting in life-altering injuries to people operate and attempt to obfuscate their responsibilities and the value of these cases. Phillip has handled matters from the early stages of filing and discovery, all the way through jury verdict and subsequent appeal. In fact, Phillip spent five years of his career as a law clerk on the Fifth District Appellate Court of Illinois. There he was responsible for reviewing all types of cases and assisting the Court in resolving legal issues that resulted from the trial or circuit court level.
Personal:
Phillip was born and raised in Herrin, Illinois. He and his wife, Ashton, currently reside in Marion, Illinois, with their young son, Tripp. In his free time, Phillip enjoys spending time with his family. Specifically, he enjoys cooking or grilling alongside his wife, chasing his son around the yard, and walking his miniature labradoodle, Scottie.
Education:
Phillip graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2015 with the academic distinction of magna cum laude. While in law school, he was an editor of the Journal of Legal Medicine from April 2014 through May 2015, and has had several academic and legal writings published, including four in peer-reviewed journals.

Memberships and Affiliations:
Throughout his career, Phillip has been a member of many different legal organizations. He is currently, or has been, a member of the Illinois State Bar Association (Torts Division and Young Lawyers Division committee member), Williamson County Bar Association, Jackson County Bar Association, and Southern Illinois American Inn of Court.
Phillip is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Herrin, where he serves as the Minister of Guest Services and Communications and as a Deacon.
